First of all, it is not about me but of the incredible animals that I had the great fortune of knowing and working with. Over their careers, hundreds of criminals would fall victim to their incredible talents. With that said - My name is Emory Griffith. I was a K-9 handler and trainer for the City of Lawrenceville and Gwinnett County Police Department located in Georgia.
I have been involved in German Shepherds since the 1980’s, at which time I trained in AKC style obedience. In the late 80’s and early 90’s I developed an interest in a dog sport known as schutzhund. In 1992 I purchased an East German female puppy and the following year a male, who was a mix of West German working lines from an East German female. And so came Cisco and my love for the working German Shepherd. I would later police with K-9 Cisco and would learn more about what a working dog was from him, than any other source of information.
I produced my first two litters of German Shepherds in 1997 through daughters sired by Ciro Pohranicni straze and Arys z Travnickova dvora. I would sometimes police with the Arys daughter as she excelled in tracking. During this time I studied working bloodlines and had accumulated hundreds of pedigrees from all over the world. This knowledge permitted me to perform the duties as a breed warden in the United States to allow dogs to gain registry to the German Shepherd Dog Club of Germany.
For over 30 years I have helped train hundreds of dogs and policed with them the majority of my career in law enforcement. I have titled seven different police dogs and with their help, track down hundreds of criminals for every imaginable crime.
Other Things:
For five years I lectured on learning theories to over 2000 college and university students. It was from this same knowledge that I was able to shape the behaviors of these incredible animals which would make our communities a safer place.
