The Grand Adventure starts back in 1992 with a puppy named Cisco. I would raise, train and handle K-9 Cisco throughout his career in law enforcement. He was everything you could ask for in a German Shepherd. Cisco loved our family as much as we loved him. He lived in our house, played with us, watched TV with us, took vacations, celebrated holidays and birthdays with us. He was a big part of our lives, making us feel safe and secure. There was no better feeling than knowing Cisco was always watching out for the children and our home. He was also a fearless police dog, proving over and over what a valuable asset he was to the law enforcement community. June 10th, 2005 was one of the hardest days of my life. On that day, with his failing health I made the heartbreaking decision to send Cisco off to Doggy Heaven. More than twenty years later my heart still hurts reflecting on that time, but there were thousands of wonderful memories along the way that occupy my thoughts of Cisco. Imagine my surprise when in 2017 I discovered that Cisco’s sire had been collected and his semen had been stored frozen for more than 30 years. I was able to locate and purchase the semen and have my female surgically inseminated. Today, I once again have a part of Cisco with me. My males Cliff and Coal share the same blood that once pumped through the heart of my Cisco. Who could have ever guessed that all these years later, the grand adventure with Cisco would live on. In his honor, my kennel name is aus Ciscos Schatten. Translated it reads, from Cisco's Shadow. The puppies that I raise will always have a part of Cisco in them. With Cisco as my blueprint, they are raised to the highest standards. And every time one of the puppy families sends a picture of their dog casting a shadow, I know the Grand Adventure lives on.
